Investor invitation
From Honourable Belden Norman Namah, MPChairman of the Vanimo Free Trade Zone
Vanimo is not just the next chapter in Papua New Guinea's story — it is the chapter our nation has been waiting to write. To every investor, partner and visionary with the courage to look where others have not — Vanimo welcomes you.
It is my honour, as Chairman of the Vanimo Free Trade Zone, Member of Parliament for Vanimo-Green and Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, to invite you to join us at the very beginning of something extraordinary.
A national mandate
The Vanimo Free Trade Zone is more than a project — it is a national mandate to build a coastal city worthy of Papua New Guinea's people, our resources and our place in the Asia-Pacific.
For too long, the immense potential of our Sandaun coast — pristine beaches, world-class surf, untouched biodiversity, a natural deep-water harbour and a border with Asia's largest economy — has waited for the right alignment of vision, policy and capital. Today, that alignment has arrived.
The city we are building
Inspired by Dubai 2040 and Singapore's Changi model, our master plan covers 757 km² of integrated coastal development. We are upgrading our international airport to ICAO Code C, launching a Vanimo-based airline to connect us to Singapore, Jakarta, Manila and Sydney, expanding our port to handle large container vessels, and building a polycentric city of six satellite towns to house and serve a population that will grow from 50,000 to 500,000+ by 2040.
Framework & de-risking
The opportunities are real, the timing is right, and the framework is in place. Our PPP Act (2014), Regulations (2023) and Guidelines (2024) provide transparent procurement, secured land tenure and clear risk allocation. Our SEZ framework offers tax holidays, import duty exemptions and accelerated depreciation. Our sovereign and bilateral partners are committed to delivering the trunk infrastructure that de-risks your capital — see the investment overview for packages and returns.
Partnership on the ground
But what sets Vanimo apart is not only the geography or the policy — it is the partnership. We are committed to working hand-in-hand with you: with Indigenous Landowner Groups whose customary rights anchor every parcel, with our communities whose talent and culture will define this city's soul, and with the national leadership that has placed Vanimo at the centre of Papua New Guinea's FDI strategy.
Where capital fits
To investors in port and logistics, our deep-water harbour and Indonesia border crossing are unmatched in the Pacific. To aviation partners, our aerotropolis is open for joint venture. To real estate and tourism developers, our waterfront, marina and pristine beaches await your vision. To industrial and SEZ tenants, our tax incentives and streamlined investor desk will get you operating quickly.
An invitation
This is the moment. Early-mover advantage in this region disappears quickly. I personally commit, on behalf of the people of Vanimo-Green, to be your champion in Parliament and your partner on the ground.
